RSGT 2024

I joined Regional Scrum Gathering Tokyo 2024 (RSGT 2024) on Jan 16, 2024. I'm going to write my experience there in this article.

Day 0

Luckily, I was a speaker at RSGT 2024, so I could join Speaker's Dinner on Day 0. I met many friendly people including rockstars, who are very famous in this community. I enjoyed hanging out, but there is one thing I regret. I couldn't talk to these rockstars because I was embarrassed and I couldn't come up with what to talk. I wanted to be more social there.

After Speaker's Dinner, there were sessions on Day 0.

These were designed to let participants make friends with each other. The workshop I participated in was "Group 4," where we introduced ourselves to each other. It was a great time, and I easily made friends with them. Thank you.

Day 1

On Day 1, which is officially the first day of RSGT 2024, there were a lot of valuable sessions. You can check them out on the schedule page.

On this day, I talked to Kunimoto-san, Taito-san, Koito-san, Sasa-san, Ogasawara-san, aki.m-san, Shiiba-san, and other friendly people.

Day 2

On Day 2, there was my session. Although I haven't mentioned it, I had been preparing for almost 2 months! The material was ready to show at the beginning of December 2023, and I kept practicing my session every day. So, I didn't get nervous. However, just before starting my session, I failed to make participants laugh with my talk. I should have mentioned something like the TV series I watched (e.g., I watched Orange Days on Netflix during the New Year Holidays).

My presentation was assigned to a 20-minute slot, and I couldn't fully use it; the presentation took almost 18 minutes! I wanted to spend more time.

After finishing it, I got two questions from people who asked me questions in private, not during the Q&A. It was gratifying. Thank you for asking!

I showed my living area's famous thing: tea field. Iruma, where I'm living, is famous for Sayama tea, and I wanted to make the session a bit funny by suddenly introducing my area. It was also a good opportunity for me to let people know about Iruma.

After all sessions, I joined three drinking parties. All of them were so good, and I could talk about many things.

Day 3

On Day 3, there was only a keynote, but before it started, we did OST. A huge number of topics were made for the OST. It was amazing because I hadn't seen so many topics being posted before. I felt energy from all participants.

The final keynote was impressive. Kano-sensei's talk on Quality, infused with humor, was impressive. I'm still not sure what quality is, but after the keynote, I learned about the Lifecycle of Quality. Attractive quality will become Must-be quality. This can't be helped. So, I understood we should keep discovering something new to grasp the attention of consumers. Otherwise, a product will soon become unused.

Conclusion

RSGT is aimed to let participants gather. Gathering is important for RSGT. If I have the opportunity and get a ticket for the next RSGT, I want to talk to more people than at RSGT 2024. Also, I want to make myself more active on Discord.

Last but not least, RSGT 2024 couldn't be held without the volunteer staff. They were great. Thank you!
